This year the scout section decided that as it was close to the 14th February, the theme of the cooking competition would be a Romantic Meal for two. We even invited a couple of special judges, the local MP Angela Smith and the Chairman of the Parish Council Howard House.
Our indoor cooking goes from strength to strength and 21 teams from the district entered - a record number. We even had to erect a mess tent in the grounds to fit in all the teams. With just a two burner gas stove the teams had to create a three course meal in just 2 hours (Gordon Ramsay eat your heart out!).
There were some really fine meals on show, all of which were of a very high standard, indeed some were of a standard only seen in a restaurant. From Smoked Salmon pate to Chocolate sponge pudding, strawberry chilli prawns to Popcorn banana and home made spring rolls to fruit cocktails the standard was really high.
The judges worked their way through all 63 courses and in the end the results were in. There wasn't much between all the teams but in third place was the 82nd (B?), in second was the 1st Stocksbridge and the winners by a single point were the 1st Stocksbridge team of Georgia, Tom and Julian.
