This year we entered two teams into the annual Don District Cooking Competition held at Chapeltown Scouts. Both patrols were cooking the same menu. An Malaysian Coconut Curry (using all the real spices ground the Jamie Oliver way). This they served with a timbal of rice, home made raiti and home made chapatis. For desert what else but a cream, orange and cookie concoction that went down a real treat after the heat of the curry.
The two patrols (lead by Jessica and Matthew), competed against diverse cuisine's from Thailand, China and India. Quality was high from all the 13 competing patrols. Spare a thought for the judges who had 13 mini meals to eat (well someone had to do it!). After marking the patrols on teamwork, hygiene, food prep, taste and washing up!
After all the food was tasted and every scrap of kit was washed the results were announced. The quality dished up by our two teams was extremely high. I'd go as far to say it was restaurant standard, however once again we had to settle for second and third places.
Anyone wanting to book the patrols for a dinner party please contact the Patrol Leaders!
